- Pristine - un touched nature
As you travel just a few minutes outside of Riga or any
of the other major Latvian cities, you will quickly discover
that you are in the
countryside.
Latvia has about 50% of it's people living in Riga and the
rest spread out over a country that take about 8 hours to
drive across from West to East.
As you can imagine, Latvia has a lot of countryside and this
countryside land is for the most part unvisited by humans. As
you will find, there are places that perhaps a human has not
walked in a long long time if perhaps ever. All this provides
the visitor with an opportunity to experience something fresh;
clean and in its natural state. This is an opportunity of a
lifetime to see forested lands; grass meadows;
vast
coastlines; small hills and valleys and on and on.

Land of surprises – old &
new
Historically, the city of Riga was founded
around the year 1201. However, the land area which is now Latvia was a major
trade route
by the Vikings from Norway traveling to Russia and Central
Europe dating back several thousands of years. With all that
you are bound to find something old to explore from the
historic
churches of Riga to the 800 year old
Krimulda
Church just one hour east of Riga. Also there are many new
buildings and exciting programs around Latvia for one to
marvel at. There are surprises around each corner and in your
day to day life.

Everything about Latvia is a contrast. The buildings, the
scenery, the people, the customs and the experiences. It is
just simply amazing to see and experience the surprises that
crop up around every corner and in everyday life. From the

is for sure; there is little pretense in Latvian life. What
you see is what you get. The facade of other rebuilding ex
soviet tourist attractions is simply just not present in
Latvia. To some, it may be frustrating; but to others it is
marvelous to experience. The Spanish language has a wonderful
phrase to describe this condition: "disfruita la
experiencia" - enjoy the experience!

clearly or to think logically and decisively about something;
while, pondering is defined as: to weigh in the mind - to
think or consider especially quietly, soberly, and deeply.
Well this is for sure what you can do while in Latvia. You can
ponder about your own life of about the lives of Latvians and
wonder about what you life could have been like if you were
born a Latvian.
The possibilities are exciting; much like being involved in a
live theater where one minute you are in the audience and the
next minute you are one of the performers.

- What could it have been?
Dating back to early in it's modern history, Latvia has been a
place of society, culture and educated people. The most
sugnificient inventions by Latvians' include the
MINOX miniature camera in 1937. It was invented by Valters
Caps from Riga. There are numerous other exciting things that
occurred in Latvia in the early 1900's including the Latvian
famous
BROWN BREED cow developed in the second half of the 19th
century.
